NEW PROMOTION – COLEGA PRO WRESTLING

The Bodyguard has started off the new year with a bang. To my delight, he has gifted us fans a new promotion! ‘Colega Pro Wrestling’ which translates to ‘comrade’, ‘colleague’, ‘buddy’ etc. I thought Bodyguard may be done with wrestling as he was seriously injured on a Lands End show in December of 2019 leading to a 10 month stint on the sidelines. So for many reasons this caught me by surprise, not only because we are living in weird times but this federation is unlike any other in Japan at the moment. For those longtime puro fans you might remember the insane schedules of Osaka Pro during the 00’s as well as Okinawa Pro, running daily/near daily live events. Okinawa Pro is where current AJPW wrestler Black Menso-re famously wrestled 387 for the company in 2011. Since Osaka & Okinawa Pro both became defunct there hasn’t been a promotion that have had the balls to run 5-7 days a week in front of a crowd. HEAT-UP do near daily uploads on their YouTube channel but they are single matches at the dojo in front of no audience. Bodyguard came through the Osaka Pro system, he never did one of those insane schedules but a lot of the guys involved with ‘Colega’ have. Like those promotions of yesteryear, this promotion will have their own independent arena called the ‘Colega Studio’. Out of their home-based arena they plan to run SIX show a week! SIX! Bloody good luck to them! Bodygahhhh copped a lot of flack when he came up but during his years in All Japan he turned into a very enjoyable wrestler having many great matches which is a credit to a man that didn’t start training until his 40’s. Any who, I’m just going to provide all the information about ‘Colega’ in English that I can find and translate. There is yet to be a press conference or anything of the sort, it’s just all social media based for the time being.

SCHEDULE –

MONDAY/WEDNESDAY/FRIDAY – ‘RISING NIGHT’ – 18:00 – 19:30

TUESDAY/THURSDAY – ‘STARS NIGHT’ – 18:00 – 19:30

SATURDAY – ‘RISING STARS NIGHT’ – 18:00 – 20:30

Weekday shows are 3,800 yen ($36 USD) for general entry & VIP seats for 20,000 yen ($195 USD). With the VIP seats you are allowed up for 5 people for the table.

Saturdays show are 4,800 yen ($46 USD) & 25,000 yen ($240 USD) for the VIP table.

They have extensive virus precaution methods in place with every patron having to use the Osaka corona tracking app as well as being required to have a temperature checks before the event.
